Why use a steam carpet cleaner?
Using a steam carpet cleaner for cleaning carpets is a great way to deep clean carpets in homes. When a vacuum cleaner is used to clean carpets only the upper layer of dust
or dirt on the carpet surface gets removed but the dust that gets settled in deep areas remains as it is.
A steam carpet cleaner uses a very unique way to deep clean carpets. In this, forced steam is applied in deeper areas of the carpet that does two things,
1) The hot steam kills termites which a standard blow vacuum cleaner can
never do.
2) A small amount of vapor when touches carpet surface smoothens the dirt that is settled in deep areas, which can be removed easily using a standard vacuum cleaner.
How to use a steam carpet cleaner?
Step 1 -
First use a standard vacuum cleaner on the carpet cleaner. This will remove all the dirt from the upper surfaces of the carpet
Step 2 -
Fill the tanks of the steam carpet cleaner with tap water and ad a little cleaning agent into it. Fix the tank into the steam cleaner and turn it on.
Step 3 -
Slowly ride the steam carpet cleaner over the carpet surfaces. Some carpet cleaners have an adjustable nozzle for throw of steam on carpet surface. Areas that have more human movement need more cleaning. Use the nozzle arrangement to control the flow of steam.
Step 4 -
After the steaming is complete, scrub the area with brushes attached to the steam cleaner. Most carpet cleaners have 5 brushes to pull out dirt from deeper surfaces of the carpet.
What to look for before purchasing a steam carpet cleaner?
If you are planning to purchase a steam carpet cleaner for home use then you must first know some common features most machine must have
1) It must have wheels for easily maneuvering around the room.
2) It must be lightweight so that you can easily carry it on upper floors.
3) A long electric chord will make it easier to clean a large area without any interruptions.
4) The steam nozzle must be adjustable to control flow of vapor on the carpet surface.
This is important because not all carpets can withstand same amount of hot
water temperature.
5) Normally most steam carpet cleaner have a water tank capacity of 1 gallon. You must see how much area it cleans in that much quantity and in how much time. You can get this information by reading the customer reviews of the model you are interested in.
6) How many cleaning brushes are there for deep cleaning. 5 are a good number to go for.
